"End of the Beginning"

It is dark, and I am all alone, and it is so cold.  Then, as I move to a warmer place, I smell the sweet scent of flowers, and hear music.   I settle down in one spot, taken there by a nice young man in a suit. Then some light, dim, shines on my face. I soon hear the murmur of people, as they enter in small groups. Some in couples, some alone.  They do not look so happy. Why? I wonder.

Then, I see you! My LOVE!!!! The one that I have waited so long for!! We made plans to meet a long time ago. The time has finally come!!!! After so many tears, and so much waiting, you are HERE!!! And you brought me a rose! How lovely! My favorite, and red too! You place it in my hand. But why do you look so sad? Aren't you happy? Is there something you would like to say to me? You lean in to me, closer, and whisper...."I loved you! I am sorry!" But why so quiet? Why not let everyone in this room know you love me! And there is nothing to be sorry for!  Why are you walking away!? Please, don't go! We have the rest of our lives ahead of us!

Now, it has grown dark, and quiet again. I think I understand why now, as I am floating through the air, and I hear sobbing. I am carried to my grave, and I take my broken heart with me!
